a carp with a harp...

I have been getting very creative this week! For Evangeline's end of term school assembly today she was a "carp with a harp" (from Under the Sea...a Little Mermaid song as they have been studying marine animals and vessels)...after researching carps we found that Koi (goldfish) were also carps so this was handy as Evangeline wanted to be a gold fish not a grey green carp....

I was too busy with the retreat and snakes and stuff last week so Monday I dashed to Spotlight and found the perfect gold fish material and bits in about 10 minutes...then Monday night I made the carp costume in about an hour...and then Tuesday I whipped up a cardboard harp with the help of some gold paint and some wool!

And here she is! The Carp with the Harp!

All the costumes were amazing...clams, snails and all sorts!

After the assembly at Mussel Pool (part of Whiteman Park) there was a whole school morning tea...a nice way to end the term...

Mum came with us too and Morganne loved all the songs and copied the class doing "the Ants go Marching"!

And now we are on holidays for the next two and a half weeks! I am packing as we are off to the farm for Easter...And here we are at the end of March already! I am hoping this also means no more snakes for now...Lissy

and I scrapped...

Yes I had a bit of a scrapping frenzy over the weekend at the Wave Rock Retreat....between teaching three classes I manage to scrap a LOT of layouts! Nineteen actually...My main aim was to scrap as many photos as possible...so all pretty simple layouts...Lots of patterned paper, a bit of stitching and some journalling as usual! It is amazing what you can get done when you do not have to worry about hungry or tired or bored children and house work! And with the good company of the fabulous women there the weekend fairly flew by...I can honestly say that everyone there is really very nice...I know I keep getting asked back to teach (yes surprisingly they are not sick of me yet....lol...) but I would go anyway just to spend a weekend with a lovely bunch of scrappers! Oh and I can go on a paper buying frenzy in the shop since Karen always has such a great range!! I was very delighted to get my hands on the new Crate Paper ranges....Pink Plum and Paper Doll...both gorgeous and I used them a lot!And I have to say a huge thank you too to everyone there...I took lots and lots of baby memorabilia tins I made to sell to raise money for Ava and the Australian Tuberous Sclerosis Society...hoping I could at least sell a few and I sold all of them! So that was amazing! I had about 10 different patterns...pastels and brights....boys and girls....here are a couple...You can see Sharon's classes on her blog....I have yet to complete my layout for her 10 Things class...and you can see the great photos she took on the weekend of all the girls! And one of me...which is on my layout...I just need to think of some journalling to go with it! And Lynne will be uploading her stuff to her blog soon!

OK - that is enough for now....onto the all important "Carp with a Harp" costume making for Evangeline for a school assembly on Wednesday.....Lissy

the retreat...

Well I had a great time at the Wave Rock Retreat this weekend! I taught three classes over the weekend...but also did a lot of scrapping myself!

All the usual fabulous women there and a few new faces too! Thanks Karen for organising such a great weekend! I know we are all looking forward to the next one in October!

Here are the layouts from my classes...
Millions of Photos...all about getting lots of photos from an event on a page...

Retro Scrapping...all about scrapping those old 60s 70s and 80s photos...and Christmas Layouts...all about scrapping Christmases Past and Present...
When I get a chance to unpack I shall post the layouts I did myself over the three days!

Hope you had a good weekend...I know the girls in Hyden did...but it was nice to get home and see my girls...and thank goodness for Mum holding the fort while I was away! Lissy

wet...

In the last 24 hours it has been rather wet here...we have had no rain for about 4 months here in Perth...and last night several storms came through...just near us at the airport 7mm fell in 20 minutes...I had four leaks in the house so lots of soggy towels and buckets. It makes me wonder how bad it must be over east in Queensland where they have had all the flooding.

It has also been fairly warm at 34C but the humidity yesterday was 96% so that was pretty revolting! I don't miss living in Broome that much...lol...so the water is good if a little inconvenient! I was just chatting to Alli and she was caught in the storm with her two boys...the car bombarded with very large hail and the windscreen smashed! they are all ok but the car was a write off! Here is a pic after the storm from our house...weird light...And look at theses two photos by Sharon of my angels...wished I could take such good ones!! I have so many wonderful photos from her that I cannot decide which ones to print!

I tried a most bizarre recipe yesterday...Compost Cookie Bar...it has the weirdest ingredients...I cannot decide if I like it or not...very strange...if you try it let me know what you think...it is kind of salty and sweet...

And I had a SNAKE in the HOUSE this afternoon...fairly freaked me out...just a baby one...but...my heart rate has been rather elevated ever since! I think it got under the back door so my FIL is coming tomorrow to put a strip under there...

And here is Evangeline writing to the tooth fairy...to let her know that she may have a wobbly tooth! Very serious business! She is desperate to loose her first tooth as she is 6 and a half!

I hope your day has been snake free! Lissy

this saturday...

We have had quite a busy day today!

Evangeline decided to get some fitness happening first thing this morning...so got in her "exercise" gear...and sorted Morganne out too! Morganne enthusiastically followed...it was rather hilarious like some 70s or 80s sitcom...
drink break...snack break in the pirate ship...
Evangeline asked to do some paint so that was the perfect time to do my background papers for the Artistic Mother's group....and E joined in....we shall so the stamping tomorrow...
A bit of bubble blowing...And a bit of "work"...And a bit of relaxing...
And I did some scrapping! I am pretty tired so somehow what is in my head isn't quite translating onto the page...anyway...
Mum came over to watch the girls while I went for coffee with Alli...no kids....very grown up....lol...and is having a sleep over which E always loves! And that is about it...Lissy
