my husband...the pearl diver...

Today is Ben's 37th birthday...he has just flown back to work this afternoon...

Here are some photos circa 1996 when he was pearl diving in Broome...He may be a few years older now but he is still just as handsome! and one of the boats he worked on...
He worked in pearling for 10 years for Paspaley Pearls as a deck hand, then diving and then skippering.

He has now been working in off shore oil for ten years as a Ship's Officer. He has had his Master One for a few years now which means he could drive any ship.

He had finished diving when we met in Broome in 2001 and so he has always worked away on ships...usually 5 weeks on and 5 weeks off.

We moved to Perth at the end of 2002 and married in 2003. And now we have two very gorgeous girls. We miss him very much when he is away.

Happy Birthday Ben...Lissy

Merry Christmas...

Well the day has come around again! Christmas is here!

We are at the farm...We lost power yesterday afternoon when the pole fuse blew and there was a fire in the fuse box...not good on Christmas Eve but we sorted it out and Western Power came and repaired the pole fuse at 6.30pm! So we had our roast dinner after all! Today it will be seafood on the BBQ!

The kids have loved their presents from Father Christmas! We will open the family presents later.

A collaborative project by Evangeline and Morganne...well E drew it and M added some little circles and such later! I love the reindeer!
Our Christmas card this year...recycled paper tree and stamping! And our Christmas photos for the year!
So I hope you have a safe and happy one! Cheers to all - Lissy

busy december days...

December is always chaotic around here...end of school, birthdays, concerts, parties and so on...and this year is no different...here's a run down of the first few weeks of the month...Peace and Joy the Christmas Fairies have been visiting and leaving advent messages...E loves to get up and look for them in the morning...they move around the house after their nightly trip back to the North Pole to report to Father Christmas...then we read the message and hang the stocking up...We have had an Open Morning at school where we get to see Evangeline's work in the classroom...We have been to a fabulous Christmas Fair with Diana...To birthday parties...to the school dance..to the Guildford Festival where I was a Fairy for the day...We have put up a little Christmas tree with only handmade ornaments and the special one purchased by the girls each year on their visit to Santa)...mostly made by Evangeline over the last four years at playgroup and school... M loved the very serious business of tree decorating! But now we also have some decorations made by Morganne too at playgroup...All except the angel...maybe a good first sewing project for E next year...A last day at Suzuki Music for the year...and playing afterwards...A surprise thank you afternoon tea for Evangeline's teacher who is leaving...and an end of school assembly...and morning tea afterwards...and E has had lots of days in her new class...she is moving into Lower Primary where she will stay with the same teacher for three years...she has just finished three wonderful years in Children's House with Naomi who has been so amazing! I love the strong relationship children build with their teachers in a Montessori school. they usually only have 3 teachers for the entire primary years..and listening to this years graduates speak you can see how the teachers have impacted on their learning and development...I helped the class make magnetic Advent Calendars this year...they were studying time....And of course we had Morganne turn two and her last play group for the year...and E had her last speech therapy session! We have been out to see the Christmas lights...And a favourite photo from this morning....before we went to see Father Christmas in the city...I am late doing Christmas cards this year! And our visit to see Father Christmas...Ben had a terrible case of food poisoning and was sick for a week...and I have had major sinus problems and still do...it is driving me nuts...I am hoping it will clear up soon! If you have any miracle cures..lol...please share...And poor E has an ear infection...

And only one week to go...I have everything ready just about...I just need to wrap presents and get ready to go to the farm...after M's Rainbow Birthday Party on Sunday that is...I hope your December days have been busy and joyful so far...Lissy
